Prior to the spring 2006, patients with breast cancer treated by Cedar Valley Medical Specialists did not have guaranteed or easy access to social work services. Members of Iowa Breast Cancer Edu-action met with the president of Allen Hospital and asked that social work services be provided. Because IBCE members asked, Allen Hospital now provides access to social work services to anyone with breast cancer treated by Cedar Valley Medical Specialists.
