A group of women living with breast cancer met in the fall of 1997. From our experiences with breast cancer, a wish list of what is needed after diagnosis was created. An Iowa Breast Cancer Resource Guide seemed like the first step in attaining our wish list.

We wrote and published the first Iowa Breast Cancer Resource Guide in 1999. It was updated in 2000. In 2003 and 2007 we partnered with the Black Hawk County Health Department to revise an update the Guide.

To create the Resource Guide, information was gathered from several reliable organizations. Over 100 phone calls were made to hospitals and organizations involved with persons dealing with breast cancer. No agency or resource paid to be listed in the Iowa Breast Cancer Resource Guide.

The Iowa Breast Cancer Resource Guide is available for downloading from the Iowa Breast Cancer Edu-action website. Our hope is the Guide empowers you to seek the best possible treatment and healing. You deserve it.

You may copy and distribute any part of the Iowa Breast Cancer Resource Guide without permission of Iowa Breast Cancer Edu-action as long as you distribute the copy free of charge to women and men who need it and give credit to Iowa Breast Cancer Edu-action.
